Stone Mountain

This past weekend we camped at Stone Mountain Park. It was great, close and perfect. We all rode together in the RV, mama did not have to follow. The kids all rode in their car seats and really enjoyed the feel of the RV. We got all set up and things went great. Our spot was directly across the street from the park and we had a view of the lake from behind our spot. The bath house was also close by, great for those hot showers. Friday afternoon we cooked Polish Sausages, sauerkraut and tator tots. We also walked down to the lake and Sara made friends with the ducks and the goose that were there. The kids went to bed and Mama and Dada got to have adult conversation time, rarely happens. The park was really quiet and peaceful.

Saturday morning we got up and had a light breakfast. Then we hit the park. We traveled from the campground to the park via shuttle service- very efficient. We had complimentary tickets from Jason's work, which was nice- ticket prices run about $30 per person. Our first mission was to ride the skyline. We took it to the top and then walked around at the top of the mountain. The two little ones actually got to get out of the backpack carriers and walk around a bit. I was shocked at how well they walked on this uneven pavement- they looked like little drunk elves. We also rode the train and the ducks. On the duck ride they take turns when they get on the water for the kids to drive. As the guy was about to see if Sara wanted a turn, she had fallen asleep- CRAZY! The duck calls are still in our house and making "quacking" sounds everywhere.

After the train ride, we decided to head back to camp and relax a little. (We had been at the park since 10 and it was now 4). We debated for a little while about the Laser Light show, the weather kept looking questionable. Just as we had ruled it out, the sun shone through the clouds and we went with it. Back to the park we went. It was really nice. They do this whole display set to music and various laser lights and even fireworks. (Sara was not too happy about the fireworks) The twins slept through the whole production. By the time we got back to the campground it was late and we were exhausted.

Sunday we packed up and headed home. It was a great weekend getaway.

Looking forward to the next trip to Fort Mountain State park.
